PLAIN-LANGUAGE POLICY
Privacy at Avec
Avec is a browser and cloud-assisted audio knowledge tool operated by DZG STUDIO LLC. This page explains what data is involved when you use translation, briefing, read-aloud, dictation, and account features.
Data you provide
- Account identifiers such as email address and Clerk user ID.
- Page text, selected text, saved sources, and instructions you choose to process.
- Audio you intentionally record for dictation or transcription.
- Lens preferences such as role, goal, output language, and briefing focus.
- First-party product events such as adding a source, building a briefing, starting or completing playback, and opening an original source.
Where processing happens
Saved browser pages and local playback data remain in Chrome storage unless you invoke a cloud feature. Cloud features send the necessary content to Avec infrastructure on Cloudflare. OpenAI processes text generation and premium speech; Cloudflare Workers AI processes cloud transcription; Clerk provides authentication.
How we use data
We use data only to provide, secure, debug, and improve the requested product functions, enforce trial or usage limits, measure whether the source-to-listening workflow is useful, and respond to support requests. Product events contain limited functional metadata, not the body of your source text. We do not sell personal information or use third-party advertising trackers.
Model requests
Avec configures its text-generation requests with storage disabled where the provider supports that setting. Provider security and operational-retention terms still apply to the infrastructure used to complete a request.
Retention and deletion
Device-local data remains until you remove it, clear extension data, or uninstall the extension. Server-side account, source, briefing, usage, and first-party product-event records remain while your account is active or as needed for security, validation, and service integrity. You may request export or deletion by contacting dev@dzgapp.com.
Permissions
The extension needs page access to translate, extract, save, and read the page you are using. Microphone access is used only after you initiate dictation. Credentials for cloud providers are held on the server and are not sent to the extension.
Your choices
You can use device speech instead of premium cloud speech, remove saved pages and sources, sign out, clear Chrome extension storage, or ask us to delete server-side account data. Avec is not intended for children under 13.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as product capabilities change. Material changes will be reflected here. Questions can be sent to dev@dzgapp.com.
